What is the maximum number of DMA channels between the FPGA and the RT controller?

Solved!

In LV 2010, what is the maximum number of DMA channels that are permitted between the FPGA and the RT controller?  Is it still 3?  Do different models of cRIO controllers and backplanes have a more channels?

Hi Joe,

Currently, all National Instruments compactRIO and R series FPGA platforms have 3 DMA channels to be used for DMA data transfers.  There are a few exceptions with a few of our other products noted in this KnowledgeBase article, however, and you can use more DMA channels on these specific devices.

Thank you.  I tried many different searches and could not find this knowledgebase article.

Thanks again!

Hello Folks,

Things have changed now.  I know the NI cRIO-9068 sports 16 DMA channels.  What about the others?  Are they all 3 channels or does it vary?

Thanks,

HLB

Oh yes, the KnowledgeBase article above will not let me in.

Hi HLB,

Here is the link to the exceptions. There is also a great related link to that KnowledgeBase that will definitively tell you how many DMA channels you have access to from the project!
