dileep,
One of your best resources for example programs will be the Example Finder under the Help menu. In here, you can search for examples by subject or browse through the examples. If you open the Example Finder and go to the Search tab, type in "file" and File I/O should show up in the search results screen. If you double-click on File I/O there, a list of examples will come up and you can go through those. In particular, there should be examples called "Write to datalog file" (which writes a cluster to file) and "Write to text file". I'm looking in 6.1, but the examples should be pretty much the same. These should give you an understanding of how to go about writing files in LabVIEW.
I hope this helps. Have a great day!

Dileep,
I apologize, but I forgot that the interface for the example finder is slightly different in 6i than in 6.1 (the version I was looking at). So to find the examples I mentioned in 6i, open the example finder in the same way (Help>>Examples..), click the Search tab (and follow the steps to configure the search function, if prompted). Then from here, click on "Fundamentals" under the list of topics and then choose "File I/O". This will give you a list of example categories, including datalog files. The examples in these categories should get you going on your program.
Particularly since you're so new to LabVIEW, it's important that you get familiar with the example finder. As I mentioned before, this will be one of your best resources for learning how to do something new in LabVIEW. Another extremely helpful resource will be the library of examples on our website under the NI Developer Zone.
Good luck!
