losing scaling 9205

We have implemented a simple data logger base on the example given in the web page http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/11198. A 9205 module is used and inserted in a Compact Rio 9014.

We have added manual and time triggered start and stop command to the base example. Everything works fine except for the following problem.

After unloading and reloading the VI, once in a while, we lose the scaling and the raw data is then recorded and showed. The scaling is implemented by setting the "Scaling" property of the 9205 AI channels.

Apparently, making a change in one of the scaling parameters solve the problem temporarily.

We would appreciate some help on that problem particularly since it is intermittent.

By the way, we like very much the product. We will publicise this fact to the other engineering groups in our company (Montréal subway) and start a user group to share the knowledge.

Thanking you in advance

Hello Michel,

The problem you are observing with losing the custom scaling when you deploy the Real-time VI to the cRIO is actually a known issue. The target fix for this problem is in LabVIEW 2011 which released two weeks ago. If you do not have LabVIEW 2011, the current work around is to manually undeploy and then redeploy the IO variables.

Thank you very much.

We have bought Labview one year ago. I hope that we will be able to have a free update.

We are searching for a book on advanced programming with Labview, Any suggestions?

Thank you again

Michel,

If you currently have an NI service plan, then you are allowed one version upgrade per year. Thus, you may have the ability to upgrade to LV 2011. You can download LV 2011 from www.ni.com/src. When you try to install, it will ask for your serial number. If you qualify, the installation will complete with an activated version of 2011 installed. If not, you will have an evaluation version of 2011 installed (30 day trial license) along with your current version of LV.

As for a book on advanced programming, I don't have any recommendations. I haven't read any books or received really good recommendations on the topic.
