sb-rio 9642 default ip 0.0.0.0 remains unchanged

my sb-rio-9642 stopped communication through Ethernet port So I opted for the IP reset option and followed the guideline in its manual to reset the ip to 0.0.0.0 ... But now I am facing a problem. I have tried several times to set the ip address of my choice on the card through MAX but each time on clicking the apply button on the MAX software the card reboots but the ip address remains unchanged i-e 0.0.0.0. plz help!

Make sure you set the ip reset back otherwise it will reset every time it boots.

the initial setting of DIP switches on the board is

Safe mode ON

Console out OFF

IP reset OFF

No App ON

USERI OFF

No FPga OFF

with above configuration i power ON sbrio-9642

I then switch ON IP Reset Dip Switch

I then restart sbrio-9642 through reset button provided on the board

I then switch OFF IP Reset Dip Switch

I open MAX software and enter a network address for sbrio-9642 with the same subnet as on my pc

I press the save button on MAX

The MAX software give a message that for configuring the new IP address for sbrio-9642 I need to reboot sbrio-9642

I click YES so it reboots sbrio-9642

But instead of showing the new IP address that i entered it again shows the old ip adress i-e 0.0.0.0 and the system state remains 'unconfigured' .

PLZ HELP!

You may want to upgrade to MAX 5.5.  I think 5.4 may have had some issues around reseting the IP address of an RT target with 0.0.0.0.  If upgrading to 5.5 doesn't help I would also suggest deleting the target from MAX under remote systems, then close and reopen MAX to rediscover the target. Something may just be confused in MAX's cache.

Thanx a lot JoshuaP for your time and consideration.

we have tried as you suggest and also update our MAX but problem is still here.

upto now we have tried in different ways as follow

changed network cables (cross and straight)

changed system (Desktop and laptop)

changed software (LabVIEW 8.6, LabVIEW 2011, LabVIEW 2012, MAX 4.x, 5.4, 5.5)

tried to change IP of SB-RIO in static and DHCP mode but not succeded

following screen appear when we tried to change IP and in following screen message every time it indicates "0.0.0.0" ip instead of which we typed or want to change.

It almost seems as if something is wrong with the disk.  In order for the target to persist the network settings it needs to be able to write to the disk to persist the setting.  You may want to try manually putting the target into safe-mode, then format it from MAX.  Hopefully, that will fix it, if it is a disk problem.  Then you can try setting the network setting again.

If you continue to see have problems I would suggest connecting a serial cable to COM 1 and enabling console out.  Hopefully, the console will provide some addiitional information to help determine what is going on.

Ya, that doesn't look good.  Have you tried to format it again from safe-mode?
