http://www.ni.com/gettingstarted/ should have relevant information on how to get started, configure, and begin programming your sbRIO-9642. This tutorial discusses several different products from NI. When the tutorials discuss hardware and ask you to choose what you are using, select CompactRIO. From the software perspective, CompactRIO and Single-Board RIO are the same. The primary difference is the mechanical form factor.
