CAN LABVIEW HELP ME TO DO ONLINE SAMPLING

I NEED A NEW DATA AQUISITION FOR CONNECTION OF MY UV DETECTOR TO THE PC. PREVIOUSLY I CONNECTED MY UV DETECTOR TO THE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY(USING ITS INTERFACE BOARD) THEN I CONNECT THEM TO MY PC AND USING THE SOFTWARE FOR GAS CHROMAOTOGRAPHY I READ MY UV SIGNAL ON PC. NOW I WANTED TO CHANGE THEM . INSTED OF USING GC AS AN INTERFACE I WANTED TO USE DAQ AND SCC TO CONNECT MY UV DETECTOR TO THE PC. HOWEVER I DOUBT THE LABVIEW FUNCTIONALITY. CAN LABVIEW IMITATE WHAT GAS CHROMATOGRPHY SOFTWARE DID IN RECORDING AND SIMULTENEOUSLY READING THE SIGNAL FROM UV DETECTOR? (I NEED TO DO ONLINE SAMPLING)THANKS

Hello,

What kind of signal does your UV Detector output (Voltage, Current, Range)? Also, what did the Gas Chromatography software do to that signal? If you can provide me with more details, I will be glad to help you figure this out.

THE UV DETECTOR GIVE ITS OUTPUT IN mV (milivoltage)-IF USING GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY SOFTWARE.

Also, what did the Gas Chromatography software do to that signal?
GAS CHRMATOGRAPHY SOFTWARE RECORD THE SIGNAL (in XY-GRAPH FORM - mV versus Time). THE SIGNAL SHOULD HAVE PEAK.

I HAVE GONE TO THE LABVIEW HAND-ON SEMINAR. I ROUGHLY KNEW ITS FUNCTIONALITY. HOWEVER DURING THE SEMINAR THEY ONLY DEMOSTRATED THE LABVIEW TO ONLY READING THE SIGNAL (AS AN ALTERNATIF METHOD TO MONITOR THE SIGNAL IN THE PC ). HOWEVER IN MY CASE I NEED A SOFTWARE WHICH COULD READ AND RECORD SIMULTENEOUSLY AND THE RECORDING SIGNAL IS DISPLAY IN REAL TIME WINDOW.(I NEED TO DETECT THE PEAK (mV drastic increase)AND ONCE THE PEAK HAD BEEN DETECTED I NEED TO SWITCH OFF THE VALVE. THAT IS WHY I NEED THOSE THING ABOVE IN THAT WAY. THANKS

YOUR HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. I AM JUST ABOUT TO BUY THE NIDAQ AND SCC. BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHETHER THEY CAN PERFORM THE WAY I WANT. AND ALSO WHETHER I NEED TO BUY ANOTHER ADD-ON (SUCH AS VI DATALOGGING OR DIAdem) IN ORDER TO GET EXACTLY WHAT I WANT.

Hello,

Yes, LabVIEW can provide the functionality you are describing without the need for any extra software. Look in the Example Finder (From LabVIEW select Help >> Find Examples) for examples on how to continuously acquire data and how to write data to file as well. Once you are able to acquire data, it will be easy to detect a peak voltage and close a switch in response.
