Hello enzo,

It would be helpful if you could provide us with some additional information such as what example you are running and the error number.  Do you have any additional SCXI modules in the system?  Can you perform measurements with the physical channels using the test panels in MAX?  This is the first step when trying to get a system up and running.

To use the test panels, expand the SCXI chassis entry in MAX so that you see the SCXI-1520 entry.  Right click on this entry and choose test panels.  Measure a signal with the test panels.  Then go into the example program and choose that same physical channel and run the program.

Thanks,

Laura

Hello Laura,

I contacted NI Tech Support and got the problem sorted out. But for completeness, in case anybody else was having the same problem, I'll post the solution here.

In answer to your questions:
The example vi I was using was "Cont Acq Strain Samples (with Calibration) - SCXI 1521.vi", which I found by searching for strain in the example finder, and picking the first one that looked good.
The error number, as stated in the subject line, was 200170, physical channels do not exist on the device.
There were no other modules in the chassis besides the two, 1600 digitizer and 1520 strain signal conditioning.
I could perform measurements with the physical channels in MAX. That was the perplexing part. It worked in MAX, but the VI said the channels didn't exist.

The Solution:
Use the proper VI! lol.
I didn't have the search examples window sized large enough to read the entire name of the vi and missed the SCXI 1521 part. This vi is specifically for the SCXI 1521 board, and does not work with the 1520. The next example on the list is "Cont Acq Strain Samples (with Calibration).vi" which works with SCXI 1520 or PXI 4220. After switching to the proper vi, it works!

I'm still having trouble with getting the nulling to work, but the tech support guy emailed me a couple of articles which he said would help me resolve my issues. I'll look into that today.

Thanks for replying,
Enzo
