I have a NI USB 4431 which would be the ideal sensor for RPM collection?

USB 4431 is not an ideal device for tachometer application and is more suited to work with Accelerometers and Microphones better.
But if you have USB 4431 and want to repurpose it for RPM measurements, it may be possible but dependent on how you are going to measure the RPM.

The joy of engeneering is to do what you want with the stuff you can get 🙂
You want to measure RPM with a 4431 ...
How fast do you need to measure?
Is there a lower RPM boundary? RPM=0 is always a hard task 😉
Accuracy needed?
Any sensors alrady there? (pulse sensor ? incremental encoder ? )
Space conditions? (not vaccum, just where to mount? Oil, dust, strong magnetic fields, ... ?
could be as simple as two resistors , and the magnet and reed relay from a bicycle tachometer 😉

Hello Henrik,
You want to measure RPM with a 4431 ...
Yes
How fast do you need to measure?
Max. 1200RPM - Or it would be collection frequency rate, it doesn't need much precision.
Is there a lower RPM boundary? RPM=0 is always a hard task 😉
No.
Accuracy needed?
I don't need to be too precise.
Any sensors alrady there? (pulse sensor ? incremental encoder ? )
I have a pulse sensor.
Space conditions? (not vaccum, just where to mount? Oil, dust, strong magnetic fields, ... ?
Normal environment.
Thank you so much!!!
