SCXI 1600 - Error - Turns into "Dev2" in MAX

Have a long running (since 2007) SCXI 1001 chassis with a SCXI-1600 interface module.  The system has recently started returning intermittant errors that show as seen on the attached screen shot.  When looking through MAX it seems that the 1600 is now listed as DEV 2 and the original DEV1 device is grayed out with a red X through it.  The program is obviousley looking for DEV1 version but why did it change?  I reset everything to DEV1 and restarts and runs correctly for only a couple of hours... then it does the same thing.  SHould I replace the SCXI1600?

This problem has come up a few times before with other customers and the cause doesn't seem to be clear but a common workaround is to programmatically choose the device to use. This way you can run with device 1 until the connection resets it to being Dev2 and then your program will notice the change, and change with it. Here's a link on how to determine the connected devices programmatically, then you can choose the correct device before your program runs each iteration.
