Using scxi-1600 PFI to control logging in VI Logger

Hardware:
scxi-1600 - 16-bit digitizer for USB
scxi-1530 - 4 channel accelerometer amplifier

Software:
NI-DAQmx version 7.4
VI Logger version 2.0

Is it possible to utilize the two PFIs on the scxi-1600 to trigger data logging in VI Logger?

Hello,

Yes, this is possible. See the VI Logger User Guide, page 9 for details on how to set this up.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I should have been more specific. In VI Logger, the "DAQ Assistant", "task triggering" tab contains 2 drop-down menus with several options that are all grey, except for "none". The other method, "enable logging with digital channel" does not work either. No channel can be created using the scxi-1600 hardware, only the scxi-1530. How to I setup the scxi-1600 to operate as an input channel (analog or digital)?

Thanks

Hello,

I just tried to implement a triggered acquisition in VI Logger with an SCXI-1600. I was able to reproduce your issue. I could not select any type of trigger, because they were all greyed out. Unfortunately, if you are using VI Logger, there is no workaround for this. I have let R&D know of the problem, and it will be addressed in a future version of VI Logger. In the meantime, if you need triggering in VI Logger, you will have to control the SCXI Chassis with another DAQ device, such as an E or M Series DAQ board.

Alternatively, you could implement triggering with your SCXI-1600 using the DAQmx VIs in LabVIEW.

I hope this helps.
