What is the signal amplification of a 5B38 strain gage conditioning module?

I want to use the data from the 5B38 conditioning module in hand calculations for strain. Is there an maplification factor that I should use in my calculations? I am using a 1000 ohm strain gage (GF 2.08) in quarter bridge circuit to the 5B38 and a M series PCI-6251 DAQ through a SCN-68 connector block. I am reading the date in Labview 8.

Hello gas_hog,

We actually dont have the latest documentations for the 5B series of products on our website. You can get to the latest information from Analog Devices by following this link. If you look at the data sheet for the 5B38 device, you will find that the standard input range is +/- 20mV and the output voltage range is +/- 5V. You can use these values to calculate the gain provided by the 5B38. About the PCI-6251 setup, the gain provided by the card is transparent. Meaning, that the PCI-6251 would amplify the incoming signal to +/- 10V, but this gain is transparent, and hence it would compensate for the gain in software and report the actual voltage reading.
