lvds for cRIO

Does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive option to get LVDS output from a cRIO system. There are no C-series modules with this output. There is a single R series card which does it, but I need bandwidth in the low, single-digit megahertz range and it is a gigahertz device, thus far more costly than I need. At the moment, I am contemplating a 9401 with a custom plug-in board to convert to LVDS. Does anyone know of an off-the-shelf solution?

Hi,

You are right, there is no C Series Module that natively supports LVDS. As LVDS is based on a physical layer, the only option that I can think of is using a common TTL module and an external converter.

Please can you recommend a suitable TTL module and converter for a flat TFT Colour LCD module?

Thanks.

Hi Thresholdman

I was not able to find a TTL to LVDS converter from NI, but I saw some third party options on the web that you could use as well. Since those are not NI products, I would not feel confident enough to recommend a particular option.

As you mentioned, the NI 9401 seems to be the best module in frequency terms, as long as the DIO channels that it has are enough for your application.

Hello WenR,
I appreciate your comment but can you please suggest a third party converter that can work with the 20 pin flat LCD module. Although a texas instrument was recommended in the manual but I can not ascertain its compatibilty withcRIO. Please advice me.

Hi Thresholdman,

If you're looking for third party converters to work with a specific LCD module, I think you should contact the producer of the LCD Module. As for NI TTL output modules, you might need one with more channels than the 9401. The 9403 has 32 channels. It is slower than the 9401, but you gain channels. Alternatively, you could look at several 9401s.

Thanks,

Andrew
