Hi Jordan,
In most cases the shunt calibration would be performed just prior to test start. That is, the I/O channels have been configured, the data file is open and ready to receive data, the I/O tasks have been started, and all the operator has to do is press the start button. At this point, it is desirable to trim offsets and verify that the channel is operating and is scaled properly. It has been a practice here to record shunt cals on bridge type devices, both at the beginning and end of test. So the shunt cal is used as part of formal data acquisition, but also as a quick check for the operator that can be performed at any point and any number of times. You know, the 1520 is a good bridge device. It has some good features. I was even able to write an on-the-fly autobalance VI. Not being able to do a shunt cal on-the-fly is a disappointment. Is there any plan to change the driver?
