Looking for a RS-170 video signal generator VI for a PXI-5411

We have a PXI-5411 (not the video-optimized 5431). Before I go through all the work of creating a VI that can create an RS-170 (monochrome) video signal, I thought I would ask here first. I know there is a NI video generation toolkit of some kind available that was meant for the 5431, so I don't know if it would work with the 5411, and I know my company wouldn't go for ordering it, anyway. So, any kind of video signal-creating code would help. Thanks, - Brad

K1200LT rider,

I've talked tosome people here, and no one really has any experience with this.  Hopefully someone else will have some more suggestions or code you can work with.  Good luck!

Any luck finding an RS-170 analog output PCI type card? I am looking for one so I can analyze video that is compressed using MRJ (Motion JPEG 2000) by comparing it to the known analog signal.

Hi MF,

Our VideoMASTER bundle offers the built-in functionality and user interface to generate NTSC signals (among others).  The bundle uses a 5421 AWG

If you can generate the necessary arbitrary waveform yourself then the 5421 should be capable of outputting RS-170 test patterns.  The VideoMASTER test suite has this functionality built in if you don't want to code the video signal yourself.

I would encourage you to speak to your local Field Sales Representative for more information about our products and to see if they would be suitable for your specific application.

Best Regards,

John Passiak
