MAX does not see Agilent device

When I plug in my Agilent 33220a function generator into my laptop's (it is a Windows 2000 OS) USB port MAX does not see the device. I have downloaded and installed the driver (hp33120a_MS.msi) into the computer but that did not do the trick.

I have another computer which is a XP and it sees it just fine.

Another piece to the puzzle is my XP machine has LabWindows installed; the Windows 2000 machine had the LabWindows application installed into it with the Manage Distributions build made on the XP machine.

That driver doesn't do anything to help windows and MAX recognize the instrument. It should be showing up as a USBTMC device in the windows device manager as well as MAX. Open MAX and confirm that you have VISA installed and check the version. In your window\inf folder, there should be a file called niusbtmc.inf.

p.s. You posted to the Signal Generator board. You have a signal generator but it's not an NI Signal Generator (what this board is for). In the future, you would want to post to the Instrument Control board.

Just figured it out. I did need Visa. To fix it I went to Edit Distributions-> Drivers & Components Tab and added the NI-VISA components. So when I installed my application on my other machine it installed the VISA jazz and worked just swell. What threw me off the track was I clicked the "Check Module Dependencies" button but it did not tell me about needing VISA. I thought the button should have seen the hp33120a driver in my application and told me to add VISA. I think it is a bug; I have a NI tech support person trying to figure it out, I will tell them about my experience and see if they can fix that on the next version on LabWindows.

I'm new to this LabWindows stuff and will try to pidgeon hole my messags in the right place next time. Thanks for the response.
