I have been using a test setup that includes a PCI-5401 function generator and a Spectrum Instrumentations MI.3011 A/D board. Info on the Spectrum board can be found at
Recently the function generator quit working. I suspect some sort of conflict. The 5401 works when the MI.3011 is removed. The attached pics show how the function generator is displayed in MAX with and without the Spectrum board installed. The 5401 fails self test when the MI.3011 is installed.
Any help is appreciated.

Hey RDTech,
Can you tell me if you installed the Transient recorder afte rthe 5401? What is the driver you are using with the 5401? We could try a repair/reinstall of the driver just in case the Transient Recorder driver caused some type of conflict when it installed to the computer. Let me know if you have questions on how to do that. As well, what if we swap the PCI slots that these two are installed in, does that change anyting?
thanks

Hi TobyHex,
The Fgen version is 2.1. We did a clean install of Windows XP then Fgen. We installed the 5401 and it passed the internal test for a couple of reboots. Then I physically placed the transient recorder in the computer but did not install the drivers. The 5401 then failed the internal test. I tried swapping slots with the same results. I can not find any conflicts, and it's strange how this same hardware has cohabitated peacefully for years.

Hey RDtech,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am curious about when you mention that you did not install the drivers for this third party board. What happens if we remove the cards, install the third party drivers, then install that card, then repair the FGEN driver, then install that card?
Thanks
Nick

Thanks for your response. I have tried thesed cards in every imaginable combination of order of install, slots, drivers. I've done a clean install of Windows and drivers. I tried the exact same hardware in another computer and they work fine. The motherboard on the problematic computer is an Asus P4P800-VM. I would verify the MB is OK if I knew how.

RDTech,
If we know that these cards work on another computer, as well as the drivers and the software, then the only thing we can point towards is the others computer(Motherboard). You might need to purchase a new MB as this one could have gone bad somehow. I do apologize for the inconveniance, but I do not think its NI hardware related anymore. Let me know if you find out any new information and we can explore those routes.

I found the solution some time back. I thought it might be helpful to somebody if I posted the solution. It turned out that the computer power supply was not supplying enough power. Everything started working fine after replacing the power supply.
