analog waveform editor 1.2 will not launch

I have installed the analog wave form editor version 1.2 and it will not launch. The lisence manager seems satisfied and I upgraded my window 2000 to internet explorer 6. I have labview 8.2 with MAX 4.1.

The system configuration you described should be ok.  If you haven’t done so already, I would recommend trying to repair the installation (Control Panel>>Add or Remove Programs>>National Instruments Software>>Analog Waveform Editor>>Repair) in case any files got messed up on your system.  If that doesn’t help, please post back with any details about the launch failure.  Do you get any errors or do any windows come up or does nothing happen?  Also, did you get any errors during installation?

Thanks,

I have unistalled and reinstalled and I have tried to repair the software.

When I try to start the program from the start menu, I get the little hour glass for about 3 seconds, then nothing happens. It shows up in task manager for about 2 seconds then closes.

If I try to start the program from the icon in the programs folder, the initial front panel comes up, but does not ever lauch the program. It shows up as a process in task manager, but does nothing.

Hey whatfor,

Thanks for contacting National Instruments support.  What other drivers do you have installed on the system.  The easiest way to determine this is to go to MAX and create a report from within MAX.  To do this go to File >> Create Report.

Then select Technical Support Report, and click next, and then click next again, you won't need to add anything in the second window.  You will then be asked for a file name and you can save it to your desktop and post it on this forum.  It is a zip file with some text file included.  Feel free to look at the contents to be sure you aren't posting something you don't feel comfortable with.

This should give us a better idea of what other software is installed to see if there is any known issues or things missing.

As Kenn mentioned, please post the report from MAX so we can take a look at your system.  Also, I have attached a list of files you can double check to verify that they are present on the system.

Here is the report from Max. I checked to see if all the files were there. I did not see any that were missing.

I’d recommend trying the following steps to see if it resolves the issue.
1.  In Windows Task Manager, kill the process “nimxs.exe”.
2.  Delete (or move to another location so you can restore later if you want) the folder “C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MAX\Data”.
3.  Restart your computer.
4.  Try to launch the Analog Waveform Editor.

Thank you so much. That worked. I renamed the data file, stopped nimxs and restarted. Then awe launched and seems to be working fine. I am happy.

Great, I'm glad to hear things are working.  If you still have it, would you be willing to post the data folder in its previous state so we could take a look at what caused the failure?

Thanks,
Matt
