getting an output signal to my speakers on a sony vaio laptop using labview 4.1

Dear All

Im trying to use labview in order to construct and run a virtual echo sounder, using a virtual signal generator and osciliscope. i am trying to get an output signal to a set of external speakers on my sony vaio laptop using labview, but i am unsure how to do this. i would also appreciate any information on recieveing a signal from an external source and inputing that signal into my virtual osciliscope, which i can then automatically save to file.

Can anyone Help

Gratefully Yours

Jack

Hi Jack,

Thanks for your post.

I'm trying to lay my hands on a copy of LabVIEW 4.1, but it might take a day or so. Please be patient, I'll have a tinker to see if I can help.

I'll be in touch again soon. Thanks for your patience,

Hello again,

I'm building a system to mimic what you are running - I just need to know which operating system you are running? (NT/98/XP etc)

Still waiting for LV 4.1 to come through.

If you could let me know so I can get the system ready.

Thanks again,

Hi again,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. You should be able to find an example code to play sounds in LabVIEW itself. LabVIEW 4.1 for Windows ships with an example, Play Sound, located in the playsnd.llb library in the LabVIEW\Examples\DLL\Sound folder. This VI calls a DLL that uses Windows API function calls to play .WAV files.

Unfortunately I've not been able to set up a replica system here yet, but I shall keep trying. Please let me know if you've made any progress regarding this or if you have solved the issue.

Many thanks,
