symbol recovery

Hello

Anyone how can guide me about timing/symbol synchronization.I have a theoratical information about it but i want to know how to impliment it in labview, e.g the tutorial on Ni about  timing recovery has a poly phase filter . what is it how do one impliment it.what is decision and timing recovery block.i am just using labview 8.5 evaluation version

Hi Madd,

You probably need to give more information about the signal you are trying to recover and the information you have but I will give it a try.

I would also assume that your signal is a burst digital signal that contains (as any protocol) a SYNC unique word. This is used because the most important thing in a digital communication is to know where t0 is. From there, all measurements and demodulation will happen.
Modulation Toolkit  is a set of VIs that are made to help you quickly develop a communication modulation and demodulation application.
If you know your modulation scheme, there are VIs that will perform Frequency Estimation, Phase estimation and therefore will do Timing and Symbol recovery. There are also tools to help you apply a match filter, align your signal to the ideal signal and others.
