Graph names not fixed in 2.5??????

Dear NI SE Team,

I've updated the Signal Express 2.0 installation to version 2.5 this morning and to my great amazement
the "bug" with the graph names  is still in version 2.5 ?  (Every time I save or I measure, the Scalenames on the graphs
are replaced with "Voltage" again...) THIS IS IRRITATING, as when I have 10 signals that look alike, I have to check what is
what by right clicking and remove signal... (I do not remove it but at least I can see what signal is displayed...)
I realy hoped this annoying thing would have been fixed but alas.... Where is there a document that describes the fixes that
have been applied to version 2.5 compared with 2.0 or isn't there such a document?
I do hope your team can fix this issue in the realy near future....

kind regards,
PBRM

Hi PBRM,

We're all really sorry to hear that your experience is not what you hoped!

I'm personally trying to understand what your refering to. When viewing a signal in the data viewer, the scale labels get populated by SignalExpress to show the signal's X- and Y- information and units; not the name of the signals. You can show the legend (by right-clicking on the graph and selecting "Visible Items >> Legend".) Are you attempting to overwrite the scale labels using the Property Page?

Yes indeed and still it (SE) is replacing my scalenames every time with "amplitude" or "voltage" wich is
quite annoying as you understand.  I would be glad to know how I can fix things so that I can see on my Y axis "MotorSignal"
or any other name I choose without SE overwriting it again every time.

Signal Express had this thing in version 2.0 and now it still does so in 2.5, maybe I'm doing something wrong here but,

how can I name my graphs or Y axis (prefered) so they are not overwritten?

kind regards and hey, SE is still a fantastic product but these kind of glitches are "ambetant" as we say here (annoying 🙂 )

Hi PDRM,

I now understand what you are trying to do. Because the graphs in SignalExpress get their label and unit information from the data itself, and because that unit information can change due to a change in the owning step's configuration, the graphs currently do not differenciate between "user-specified labels" and "configuration changes"; they assume everything is a "configuration change" and overwrite the axes. I realize that this should not be the case, I'm simply explaining why you are having this issue.

I'll see what I can do so that this is not an issue for you! And this would be regarding both axes, not just the Y-axis.

Thank you for your continued support and feedback to help make our product better!

Phil

Hi,
Was a solution ever devoloped for this problem? We're trying to graph pounds vs distance, but the program always changes back to voltage.

Thank you very much,
James

Hi James,

There is a minor release, SignalExpress 2.5.1, which contains a fix to this issue. It allows you to rename the axis labels of the graphs and SignalExpress with not overwrite them again. This version is currently shipping with the Sound & Vibration Measurement Suite (which shipped in November 2007) and the March 2008 Driver CD. I believe there is a way to receive CD versions of the Driver CD, or it can be downloaded from a link at the following address (beware, this is a very very large file):

You should be able to launch this installer and only select to update SignalExpress and/or any other component you like.
