LabView Software Engineer (Direct Hire Position) with Global Testing & Automation Company

Global supplier of Testing Solutions is hiring an experienced Programmer to their dynamic and growing team located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The ideal candidate will have software engineering experience using LabVIEW for Windows and a certification from National Instruments. This is a direct hire, permanent opportunity with a competitive compensation and benefit’s package offered!

SUMMARY:

Designs, develops, writes, implements and debugs software applications. Validates test and automation equipment that the software is written for. Supports and installs tests and automation equipment at final customer site. Supports and modifies software as required after installation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with sales and engineering to develop sales quotations for customers
  • Receives input from the customer in the form of specifications and requirements.
  • Receives input from Engineering in the form of control prints, block diagrams, I/O channel counts and descriptions and bills of material and mechanical drawings.
  • Develops initial program concept using a flowchart
  • Translates inputs and flowchart into working software code.
  • Debugs software code and works with engineering and customer to ensure the requirements have been met.
  • Using appropriate statistical techniques such as Gauge R&R or MSA, validates the software produces correct output and machine operation.
  • Works with technical writer to develop machine operation manual.
  • Performs or directs the installation of the equipment and training of customer personnel at the customer site.

SKILLS:

  • Proficient programming in LabVIEW for Windows or VB.Net is required.
  • Experience programming in PLC Ladder Logic, especially Siemens and Allen-Bradley is preferred but not required.
  • Familiar with one of the following:
    • CAN
    • K-Line
    • LIN
    • RS232
    • GPIB (IEEE 488)
    • RS485
  • Proficient with Oscilloscope, DMM, Logic Analyzer and similar test equipment.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering is highly preferred however, not required.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required including international sites.
  • Ability to represent company with customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Windows and MS Office Products
  • Ability to work in a team setting with a variety of personalities

COMPENSATION:

Salary is open depending on experience and qualifications. A competitive benefits package is offered in addition including premier health insurance, holiday and vacation pay and 401k.
