Abstract:
The design and implementation of " A Novel Signaling System For Better Railway Network Management" has been presented using infrared encoder/decoder based technology & RFID technology. The Infrared encoder/decoder can be used in railway networks or road traffic to
monitor the vehicle location and other parameters. In this signaling system, infrared transmitters (using digital encoders) are mounted on two signaling posts (three aspect color light signal) which are at a distance of 2 km (assumed) apart (Emergency Braking Distance). Infrared receiver (using digital decoders) is mounted on the left side of the vehicle . Whenever the engine passes through the first signal post, infrared receiver receives binary data corresponding to particular signal on the post (red, green or yellow) and according to the received input, flashes the corresponding signal LED mounted on the driver’s panel inside the engine cabin. The driver can then take decisions accordingly. The RFID Tag is mounted on the train which is used to send the information regarding train & station to display on LCD .The LCD will display name of train, name of station, platform no. etc. Furthermore provisions have been made to enable the control of the vehicle motion through standard GSM mobile phone according to the signal received from the operator through DTMF. The RF module will provide Synchronization between two trains by controlling the motion of trains.
