Domestic Gas Burner Safety and Management System for Energy Conservation

The Challenge

To develop a safety system for domestic LPG Gas Burners and a management system for energy conservation.

Today Domestic gas cylinders and burners are a great threat in the household. They are like a ticking bomb which is ready to explode at any time if not handled properly. The current safety equipment available is the gas leakage sensor.

The goal of this project is to develop an intelligent system that will detect the gas leakage due to various conditions like the flame is off but the burner is still in on mode, a cut in the transfer tube and damage in the cylinder. The main aim of the project was to develop a warning system to warn the users if the burner is left to run unattended, in terms of any danger and to develop a Gas burner Management system for energy Conservation. All these tasks should be achieved at a low cost so that it is affordable by everyone.

The Solution

An Intelligent system was developed to detect leakage of Gas due to the following conditions:

  • Flame is in off state but the burner is in open condition
  • Gas Leakage due to damage in the transfer tube.
  • Gas Leakage due to damage in the LPG Cylinder.

A system was also developed to manage the usage of gas and also to implement energy conservation techniques.

Future Work

To implement a Mobile Phone Module so that warning can be sent to the user via an SMS and also to indicate the LPG supplier for the next cylinder in case of the cylinder reaches empty condition. To develop a communication between the user and the system on the status of different sensors.

To develop a system that could control the intensity of the flame automatically using a servo motor and to shut off the emergency valve automatically from a remote place through mobile communication.

To use all forms optimization techniques for energy conservation.

Conclusion

Thus from this project a safe (i.e. by the safety system) and Greener living environment is established through energy conservation in every common household.
