Background
Currently, General Motors is performing seat deflection tests on a stationary C-Frame testing machine. This setup has the major drawbacks of: having to measure the seat track angles in the car, complete removal of the seat, recreation of the seat track angles on a test stand fixture, and reinstallation of the seat back into the car. Under this current setup, which is a one person operation, the operator may spend an entire work day to complete a one vehicle seat test. The creation of a portable testing device would allow for the operator to perform multiple tests in a day and eliminate the possibility of vehicle damage from the removal and reinstallation of seats.
