myDAQ myCapacitanceMeter

Introduction

Rhys Bowley shows how we can use LabVIEW, the NI myDAQ to build a capacitance meter both with a home made Capacitor and real world capacitors! All from a very sunny National Instruments UK

Video

Materials Used

  •        2x rolls of greaseproof paper
  •        2x rolls of kitchen foil (preferably thinner in width than the greaseproof paper)
  •        Sticky tape
  •        Two lengths of insulated wire of about 30cm or more
  •       1x myDAQ
  •        NI Multisim
  •        NI LabVIEW
  •        2x 1Kohm Potentiometers
  •        1x known capacitor i.e 10uF

Software

Multisim is used to simulate the circuit.

LabVIEW can then be used to analyze the values acquired from the capacitor.
