myDAQ myFilterDesign

Introduction

MyFilterDesign is project designed to showcase how a product can be designed, prototyped and tested using National Instruments hardware and software. The hardware used is the NI myDAQ and the software used is NI Multisim and LabVIEW.

Video

The video below will talk you through how to use the software and build the circuit.

Materials Used

  • NI MyDAQ (with breadboard attachment)
  • NI Multisim
  • NI LabVIEW
  • 1 x LM201AN Operational Amplifier
  • 2 x Resistors
  • 2 x Capacitors
  • Single core wire

Software

Multisim is used to simulate the circuit. We can make use of Multisim's Bode Plotter instrument to analyse our filter circuit. We can produce a circuit layout for the myDAQ using Multisim and then build this design as shown in the video.

LabVIEW can then be used to analyse and characterise the filter. The front panel below shows the Bode Plot for the filter and the resonant and cut-off frequencies.

The block diagram shows how the signal can be acquired and then analysed using simple functions.
