2527 switch topology

Hi, I have a similar question.

My hardware consists of:

1 Ea. PXI-2575 (196 channel) as a HI Side DMM Mux (most of the time).

2 Ea. PXI-2527 (2 Wire 32 channel) as LO Side DMM Mux (most of the time).

Sometimes DMM HI Side is also from one or other PXI-2527.

Sometimes DMM LO is 1WREF0.

Essentially, all of the 2527 switch topologies are implemented.

I am using NISE to create a virtual switch device.

When created, the Switch Topology can be modified, once created it cannot be modified.

I would like to create a Generic configuration, such that any channel can be accessed in any topology.

The Independent topology seems like the correct choice, since I do not want to close the session each time I change switch topologies?

NI-Switch Help has some excellent information under:

NI PXI-2527 Independent Topology

These are the available routes for the independent topology:

pcom0 pcom1
1wref0 1wref1
cjtemp icom0
pcom1plus pcom1minus
icom0plus icom0minus
pcom0plus pcom0minus
com1plus com1minus

I cannot copy the schematic diagram from NI-Switch help (*.chm), the schematic in the 2527.pdf has different internal signal names.

Is there a cross reference of internal routes for each 2527 topology (1 wire 64 Channel, 2 wire dual 32 Channel...4 wire 16 Channel)

Some of the routes are obvious, others are not so (KBC01).

Since I will be setting this up for 3 Muxs, I would like to understand it completely, before I get started.

Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff.

I am not sure if this will completely answer all of your questions, but I can tell you how to copy a picture in our .chm file.  First, do not highlight the picture (highlighting the pic messes this process up).  Simply right click on the picture and click Copy.  Then, open up Microsoft Paint; Edit>>Paste.  This will allow the picture to appear in Paint.  Then, if you wish to copy it over to something like Microsoft Word: Select All>>Copy>>Open Microsoft Word>>Paste.  For some reason beyond me, the intermediate step of Microsoft Paint is necessary to get from our .chm file to Microsoft Word.

As a general practice, I always use the .chm file for all of my configuration needs.  It is one of the most complete and clear documents that we offer.

If you have additional questions, feel free to ask and I will be happy to help further!

Brian F,

Thanks, I will do that.

I agree the *.chm are very helpful.

Do you know if the internal routes are tabulated for the 2527 Independent topology.

I believe that I need to create a virtual device that encompasses most of the topologies.

Hi Jeff.

The best resource that we have for the internal routes available to you is in the NI Switches Help under the 2527 Independant Topology Section.  Another great resource for finding out what connections are possible (other than the diagrams in the help) is Switch Executive.  Switch Executive is a piece of software that allows you to test configurations quickly and validate your deployment setup.  It is very easy to use and it will give you immediate feedback as to whether or not a certain connection is possible.  Do you have Switch Executive?  If you do, I would pursue this route with the help files as a way to tabulate the routes.
