For multiplexers can multiple switches in the same bank be closed at the same time?

The 3 images below show banks of switches as represented by the NI-SWITCH Soft Front Panel in NI MAX for 3 different topologies of the 2503 multiplexer .  I have 2 questions.

  1. Am I correct to assume that among all the channels in any of these banks, only ONE of them can be closed at a time?  I've observed that any attempt to close a second switch immediately opens the first switch.
  2. As an example, channel 11 and channel 12 may NOT be closed at the same time for the 2-wire 24x1 topology (left-hand image) but in the 2-wire Dual 12x1 typology (center image), both can be closed at the same time because channel 11 is in Bank 0 and channel 12 is in Bank 1 (not show).  Is this correct?

(I understand that each channel is a DPST switch but the NI documentation for 2-wire topologies the authors seem to regard the two switches (+ and -) as a single "channel")
