How to calibration switch relays

To NI AE:
I now have a Auto test system which have 2 PXI-2532 Matrixs card. And I want to write a switch calibration program.Use this Program I can know which relay is fault and which relay is ok.I found in NI-MAX,I can use self-test to test switch,But I do not know whether this  test is only test the communication with switch. Many times I want to test the Switch Relays. So I write the calibration program.

Now, I want to ask whether NI has this program,Beacause I think every switch module in the NI factory must test ok,Not only the communication, but also the relays. And I want to know how NI company  to test this relays.Could you give me some descriptions.

    Thank you!

Hi yiweihua2002,

One way to perform such a functional self-test is to connect a DMM to the rows of the matrix and perform a continuity or resistance measurement from row to row, routing the signal through a column to complete the path.  Testing for continuity would ensure the relays are operating, as you could connect or disconnect any relay to close or open any path within the matrix.  Another option is to use Digital IO signals in lieu of the DMM.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Chad:

I want to know how often I need to test my switch,Every day or every week.Beacause so many relays I must test,It will take a little long time.So I want to know the time between this test.

thank you!

Hi yiweihua2002,

Either one.  That's the best part!

If you need confirmation the relays are functional everyday, then the test should be performed daily.  However, unless the relays are used to route significant voltages and/or currents, or the relays undergo a high number of cycles on a day-to-day basis, the test could probably be performed weekly.

Really, it's up to you.  Let me know if you have further questions!
