NI-DMM/Switch Express application

Does NI-DMM/Switch Express uses "send software trigger" (to go through its switch scan list) that may affect other switches or VI's awaiting for this same signal? Please advise. Thanks!

Hi Taktics,

I'm not sure I understand your question. Your software trigger will be routed to whichever devices you specify. If you tell me what hardware you have and what your application is I can probably direct you to a shipping example in labVIEW to get you started.

Thanks,

Hi Sean,

Thanks for replying.  Sorry for the confusion, pls bear with me for the moment for I am new to NI software/application.

I attached the portion of the program regarding this concern.  Hope this will make it clear.

I saw the answer to this on your manual. It states there that the DMM asserts a "Voltemeter Complete" signal that the switches uses as Trigger Input to advance throught the scan list. This just means that the NI-DMM/Switch Express is not affecting our SW_DC.VI.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Hi Taktics,

Glad you sorted this out. If you're interested in how things work on a lower level, you can find an example of a DMM and a switch communicating with a handshaking protocol here:  Help » Find Examples » Hardware Input and Output » Modular Instruments » NI-SWITCH  » niSwitch DMM Switch Handshaking.

Best of luck.
