I'm drafting internal specification documents for a varity of NI equipment. The documents provide procurement information for our purchasing department and also serve as our incoming inspection document. Table 1. of NI PXI/PXIe-2532 Specification, 373723G, Sep08 lists...
NI TB-2642 terminal block
Part Number 779056-05
The lable on the housing reads...
MODEL: TB-2642
PART NO. 193372A-02
Why the differece?
Thanks,

Hi Darrow,
The 779056-05 number is the shipping kit that you can order online. The 193372A-02 is the part number of the actual module assembly. That part number keeps track of major and minor revisions of that part if the design changes in any way. The 779056-05 number includes the 193372A-02 part number (as well as instructions, label, and other things that come in the 779056-05 kit, this is the number your purchasing department should pay attention to). Let me know if you have any questions about this.

Hi Matt,
That's what I suspected...
I'll need to include both the order number and the assembly number in our document, is there an easy way to get end item assembly/part numbers on the website?
Is there revision information embeded in the end item number? For example, I'm looking at drawing NI provided for some custom connectivity I'm developing for our test systems and the drawing is 191690D-01, rev 1. If the -01 suffix reflects the drawing revision I'd replace the -01 with spaces in our document with instruction for receiving inspection to only verify the base part number 191690D.
I'm just trying to avoid a future document rev at NI stoping holding up things at our incoming inspection and triggering a document rev here.
Thanks,
Darrow

The shipping kit part number (listed on the website) won't change. The number on the product will change if the module design changes. The first 6 numbers on the module won't ever change. The letter and any information including and after the dash could change in the future.
