Bricked RoboRio 2.0

Solved!
Go to solution

We were updating the firmware on our RoboRio 2.0 when we lost power.  Now we are unable to communicate to the device.  The roboRio Imaging Tool version 22.0 shows <No roboRio targets found>.  Tried using the hardware reset.  Continuously flashing status light. Looking for suggestions of things to try. Sounds like we need instructions on how to factory reset similar to this post; https://forums.ni.com/t5/Troubleshooting-Hardware/Bricked-RoboRio/m-p/4210894#M210 .

Have you tried flashing the SD card following the instructions in roboRIO 2.0 microSD Card Imaging ?

Yes I have tried re-flashing the micro sd card twice already using Balena Etcher and following https://docs.wpilib.org/en/stable/docs/software/roborio-info/roborio2-imaging.html but unsuccessful. Before the mistake of loosing power to the roboRio during Imaging the roboRio would show up in the Imaging Tool software, but now the roboRio does not show up on the Imaging Tool software anymore.

Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification!

To narrow down the issue to either the device or the SD card, have you tried removing the sticker that comes in the SD card from the factory, and tried with a different SD card, as well?

What happens if you try booting the device into safe mode? (Pressing the reset button for 5 seconds) does the Status LED still blink continuously or do you see a pattern?

Oscar, I just tried using the Raspberry Pi Imager and a different 8Gb micro SD card but no luck 😞 Immediately after booting the RoboRio 2.0 up the status light is solid for a few seconds and then it starts flashing continuously. I press reset for 5 seconds until the light goes solid, but it stays solid for a few seconds and then goes back to flashing continuously. I have tried restarting my computer multiple times but it cant seem to find the RoboRio 2.0 and I made sure the cable or my computer was not the issue by checking an old RoboRio and re-imaging it which worked.

Thank you
