Dead ethernet ports on 2 RoboRio

Solved!
Go to solution

A week+ apart we’ve had two RoboRio ethernet ports die. Different radios and (I think) ethernet cables when broken. The ethernet leds stopped flashing and the connection drops. Was not fixed by blowing away debris with compressed air. Both radios are functional when connected directly to computer. Please advise.

Hi, Thanks for posting on the forums. I'm Matthew with NI.

Are these the same version, or different version RIOs? (v1 or v2?)

Are you able to communicate the devices over USB?

What is the behavior of the Ethernet port if you boot them into safe mode (https://docs.wpilib.org/en/stable/docs/software/roborio-info/recovering-a-roborio-using-safe-mode.ht...)?

Apologies for the late response, I did not have access to the devices until now.

Both are v1, one does not work over USB (this is new behavior since the last time i tested) and one does work over USB, both do not show any activity on the ethernet port in safe mode connected to a known working computer with a known working cable.
