During some of our qualifying matches at the San Diego Regional, our team's (2839 Daedalus) robot sustained an impact to the electronics tray, causing the NavX (https://pdocs.kauailabs.com/navx-mxp/) to become dislodged from the MXP port on the RoboRIO 2.0. After this, our RoboRIO exhibited a blinking status LED on the unit itself, with no connection to any other devices on our robot. we've tried to resolve this issue by following this thread https://forums.ni.com/t5/Troubleshooting-Hardware/RoboRIO-unrecoverable-error-status-light-continuou... but were unable to get the RoboRIO to enter safe mode.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Sincerely,
Nathan Walker

While the error looks similar in a roboRIO and a roboRIO 2.0, the way we'd approach them are different.
You're welcome to try getting to Safe Mode though I wouldn't suspect that would work if you're getting a continuous flashing LED on boot. This essentially means the roboRIO isn't able to boot. When trying to get into safe mode, it tells us the safe mode is corrupt (and that's why it won't boot).
For the roboRIO 2.0, our first step would be to check the SD Card. Let's try removing the SD Card (if there's a white sticker on it, remove that too) and reseating the card. If that works, great! If not, let's try going through the burning process to make sure nothing got corrupted on the SD card during the impact you mention. As a refresher, here's the documentation around imaging the roboRIO 2.0: https://docs.wpilib.org/en/stable/docs/software/roborio-info/roborio2-imaging.html
Let me know what you're seeing after trying those two steps.

Thanks for the reply! Sadly, after re installing the SD card with new software, I still get the continuously blinking status LED. does that indicate that safe mode is corrupted?

"Safe mode corrupted" is more of a roboRIO worry than a roboRIO 2.0. It was possible to get that into a bad state on the original device. When you flash the entire SD Card on the roboRIO 2.0, you shouldn't have that issue.
All that said, it sounds like you managed to damage the SD Card reader in the collision. I sent you a message to discuss the best way to move forward with that issue.
