Roborio 1 SFTP error

We were trying to deploy code to our roborio 1 but we got the following error:

Execution failed for task ':deployfrcJavaroborio'.
    > A failure occurred while executing edu.wpi.first.deployutils.deploy.artifact.ArtifactDeployWorker
        > SFTP error (SSH_FX_FAILURE): Failure

we decided to try reformat the roborio but we encounterd a simmilar issue that prevented us from formatting the roborio.

the issue's head was : "Unable to download firmware to target "

we tried to boot into safe mode an update that way but it didn't work.

My name is Esteban Sanarrucia from NI Tech Support. Could you please follow the steps outlined below to address the error you are encountering during the formatting process?

If you have a roboRIO 1.0 and run into an error during the update process, try the following:

1. Make sure there is just one roboRIO in the network (check the USB, Ethernet and WiFi connections)
2. Run the roboRIO Imaging Tool as administrator.
3. Ensure that you have disabled any firewalls or anti-virus on the system that might block files or network access to the roboRIO.
4. Try booting the roboRIO into Safe Mode by pressing and holding the reset button for at least 5 seconds. The STATUS LED should blink 3 times in a row.
5. Make sure your roboRIO is detected correctly and showing in the imaging tool. If your computer cannot find the roboRIO, please visit Unable to Connect to roboRIO In LabVIEW or Driver Station.
6. Make sure your computer has only letters and numbers in its name, as long names or non-latin characters can affect the imaging tool.
7. Try using a different computer.
8. If the roboRIO has a red POWER LED please visit: FRC roboRIO Light is Red ​​.
9. If your roboRIO displays an unrecoverable error (STATUS LED blinking continuously), please visit: FRC roboRIO STATUS LED Constantly Flashing ​.

We are having the very same problem: Mysteriously, after deploying code dozens of times this season, we are seeing

SFTP error (SSH_FX_FAILURE): Failure

We have tried several times to reflash the roboRIO according to your instructions, but it fails with the same message box every time. There is this error at the bottom of the instructions:

Unable to complete operation because of unexpected error: Error -2147220292 occurred at nisyscfg.lvlib:Format 5.3.vi:2890001

Any ideas?

Welp, after seeing the above failures consistently with two computers, we tried a 3rd. It deploys just fine now. 🤯
