Roborio 1 Unrecoverable Error

Hello,

We've been trying to format our RoboRIO 1 with the roboRIO Imaging Tool but have since noticed that it is continuously flashing the status light, which we found means "Unrecoverable Error"

We have tried to fix this by putting it into safe mode and reconnecting to the computer, both via USB and Ethernet, but have been unable to actually connect to the RoboRIO with the Imaging Tool. We have also tried using NI MAX to connect, as well as downloading the recovery.cfg onto a USB and booting the RoboRIO.

We are at a loss at what to do next, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Team 97

Hi Team97,

This is Matthew from NI. Thanks for posting on the forums.

If you have started the factory reset method from https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA03q000000kOHkCAM&l=en-US, and are having it fail part way through -> then the only options are to keep trying to RMA it (since the on-board chip was starting to get progammed).

However, the process is still completable.

Can you try some different USB drives? (we've found that older/cheaper ones seem to work more consistently since the usual failure is the rio and the USB not being to agree on a timing)

Hi Matthew, thanks for the reply.

We've already tried every USB drive we could find in our room and have seen no success. Is there anything beyond just trying the same procedure over and over again? If not, is there a way to get a replacement?

Thanks,

Team 97
