I posted this in January - but apparently need to make a new thread. At this point, my memory of the details is not fresh. What do you need to know from us to help us replace these.
I believe one is a original RoboRio and the other is a RoboRio 2.

What i had originally posted when the info wasa fresher:
Coach of an FRC team. At competition our RoboRio failed. The FRC FTA informed us that it was not recoverable. He suggested we should reach out to NI and ask for a replacement. That's what I'm doing here.
It's an NI roboRIO (not a 2.0 but an original model)

I find it somewhat challenging to navigate these forums, but i believe somewhere there is another post with more detailed info on the other roborio. the commonality would be it would be a post from me.

Hi Trebor, thanks for posting on the forums. I'm Matthew with NI.
Is this the previous post you're referring to? I'm not seeing more info on it.

In many situations, the rio can be recovered without replacement, so to help keep our costs down, we want to work with you to make get the unit into a working state (and if that's proves not possible, we can RMA the device).
I know it's been a while, but what do you remember about the symptoms?

Back to selling vendor or to NI directly?

We process it.

FTA said talk to NI. I don't know how this is meant to work. Can you help me know the right steps to take to figure it out and if possible do something about it? I either need to raise some money for new RoboRios or get an RMA or something for the team that has just started the new season. We're starting robot quick builds in another week or so. Actually the biggest challenge is just keeping up with it. I'm working 40+ hours (yep - we all have jobs) and volunteering for the nonprofit that hosts the team about 35 hours/week between offseason team and year round nonprofit activities. Oddly, my wife wants me at home some of the time. 🙂
Hoping to be able to turn this around. I realize my rush is not your emergency. Just trying to figure out what works.
Thanks for the quick response,
Rob.

We should be able to get your team to where they have a working rio (preferably by addressing the issues with the current one so you don't have to wait for shipments).
Are you / the team able to try working with the unit?
What doe the lights do (flash patterns) when powered on?

We're in the middle of setting up training season (mentor meetings, student planning etc. Pretty hectic (all after getting day job done). Will get you photos or description of lights on boot up as soon as I can. I don't recall the failure modes. I hope they were obvious. I'll get back to you in the next few days.

Ok. I guess I'm going to find some time to dedicate to this. What are the specific steps that we need to go through.
Do we need anything other than roborio? I will checkin daily until we have this figured out. For now, I'm assuming we can simply plug power into the roborio and report the LEDs we see and what patterns they show? Will that be a good starting point?
is there any other thing we can do while we have it powered?
As to working with you - glad to do that. Doing so during working hours is hard - pretty much all of our mentors have day jobs and our students are in school. Do you have someone available to work with use after 6:30pm EST on weekdays or if on weekends there are more hours available.
thank you - Rob (Trebor is just Robert spelled backwards)
