NI2900 doesn't connect correctly after start up

Hi,

I have the problem that our NI2900 USRP won't connect right at start up, windows says the device can't be seen correctly.

After plugging out and back in everything works fine.

I also tried to restart the USB port with the console, also won't work.

The USRP should later be used in an automatic test system and to replug it after every reboot isn't the best solution.

Has anybody an idea, what else i could try?

I use Win10.

Thanks!

Max

Hi,

How does the device look in device manager after your test system boots up?

Does it show up properly in device manager?

The right way for it to show up would be under NI-USRP Devices and then NI USRP 2900 (or whatever model name).

What are the exact error messages that you see from Windows when you say that "device can't be seen correctly".

Some background information on how USB device registration works:

Once you connect the USB device to the Windows machine a NI service called "NI USRP Monitor Service" detects the device and configures it for use (loads firmware, default fpga image etc). This process takes about 20 seconds if the connection is USB3 and about a minute on USB2 (slow connection).

One alternative to unplugging and connecting the device might be to try and restart the service and see if the device shows up properly in device manager.
