We have 2 usrp2955 with twin rx synchronised using octoclock and common LO. We measuring the FM band and want to bypass twinrx to lower cost. Our Front end has enough gain and filtering to do twin rx job. Can this work, can I still have 8 inputs using two usrps? The application is passive radar

Hi,
If 2 USRPs are a strict requirement in the LabVIEW environment it is possible to achieve with 2 X410. In case the cost is a requirement, so please use 4 x 2901 or 4 x 2930. For the last two modules, LO sharing is not acceptable.
in the open source environment, the requirements are achievable with 2 X410, N320 + 3 x N321 (LO sharing is available) and 2 x N310 (w/o LO sharing).
if you have further questions please let me know.

Thank you for your reply.
I was more thinking to use 2 x X310 with basic 1-250MHz Rx boards or do you only get two channels per X310meaning I would have to use 4 x X310? Does not seem to be possible according to this

Hi,
That is correct. For 8 channels 4 x310s are required.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
thanks

Ok another option (I was thinking) is making a simpler Twin RX using the basic RX as carrier board but just doing single mixing using a common LO to mix the FM band to 150MHz IF using high side injection 248MHz LO common to all 8 channels. The X310 baseboard will think it is twinRX topology. Is the Twin RX too intelligent? I see it uses a CPLD. Else I just need to do a lab test to see if this can be done. Any experience or is help appreciated anyway.
Otherwise I don't see a more affordable solution for 8 FM channel synchronized system than using USRP2955 x 2 with LO sharing
