VME tape read into UNIX

I want to read a VME EBCDIC tape into unix and want to convert it into ASCII so that data can be loaded in ORACLE. It is told to me that becuase of the contol information (Header etc) information and becuase the records will be spanning across the blocks. UNIX will not be able to the job. May any body help me !

Unfortunately, you may be in the wrong forum for this question. Here, VME refers to VMEbus (the "VME" stands for VERSAmodule Eurocard). I believe you are referring to Virtual Machine Environment, the operating system from ICL. All I can recommend is to check Google for VME EBCDIC.
