Can't use CAN2 on PXI-8513/2

Sure thing! After I installed XNET, I have both of these files in the same directory that you listed:

NIXNET_Example.xml

NIXNET_exampleLDF.ldf

Please give the XML database a try and let me know how it goes!

Unfortunately, this didn't help, I get the same issue as before.  Any other ideas?

One thing that I just thought about today is the NI-XNET drivers.  We are currently using the February 2014 driver set which appears to have NI-XNET 1.8.0f1 (only shows 1.8.0 on the RT controller).  I'm not sure that this would be the cause but it would be nice to try.  I'm just hesitant to update on this controller because we have other systems that use it as well and need to make sure that they remain functional.

Hey Nathan,

I'm finding it strange that I can get your system definition file to work using the XML file that I sent you and you are still running into this issue. Are you positive that you are doing this loopback test with a no termination CAN cable? If there is not a label on the cable for you to tell, you can run a quick test by probing the CAN High and CAN Low wires with a DMM. If it is no termination, you would expect to see an infinite resistance.

The issue right now is that the VeriStand project won't load to the RT controller at all.  Shouldn't it be able to deploy successfully with nothing connected?

I'll check the cable I'm using when I get a chance and get a non-terminating if it's not.

Are we able to deploy a blank system definition file to the device successfully?

Yes.  I can deploy a blank system definition (created a new project and changed only the RT OS and the IP of the controller).  Next I tried to add one port with the example database.  It failed to deploy.  So, I figured I should be able to remove the port and get it to deploy again . . . no luck, it failed to deploy now even after removing the CAN port.

After a little more testing, it seems that the database being associated with the system definiton (not even being used) correlates to not deploying properly.  I.e. from a working (blank) definition, I added the example database to the to "Targets/Controller/XNET Databases".  It fails to deploy.  If I then delete the database from there, it deploys successfully.

That sounds like there could be something wrong with your XNET driver. Can you confirm what driver version you have, and do a repair installation on it to see if that help at all?

I was finally able to get back to this project (a little).  I upgraded my X-Net drivers to 14.5 and tried to deploy a new system definition to which I added the example database.  This failed to deploy.  I even tried to edit the database to remove all the data so that it would be empty but still had the same issue.

Any other ideas to try?
