Python api for controlling simulink models

Hi, I am trying to use the veristand python API to control my simulink model which i uploaded on veristand 2018 SP1, and I'm unable to find any resources on this. I tried to follow the engine demo example and make my own script to control my model but I get unexpected results so I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong. The documentation does not have any specific examples. Thanks in advance.
