UI Manager Frequent Crashing

Using the NI VeriStand 2016 software, we have been dealing with frequent crashes almost daily when using the UI Manager. What could possibly be the issue and what are some ways that this may be prevented and resolved?

Hi sgray90,

Is the crash a UI Manager crash or is it a VeriStand crash that prevents UI Manager from receiving new values?  Could you provide a little more context regarding what you're doing with the UI Manager project?  A few more questions:

  • Are you modifying the UI Screens at all before the crash or does it just crash without modifications?
  • Does the crash exclusively occur when connected to a deployed System Definition or does it crash standalone?
  • Have you been able to send in crash reports?

It is the UI Manager that crashes. The Project on the VeriStand will continue to run with no problem. From time to time throughout the time I am using it I will receive errors that I will attach to this post. There are three UI Screens that are shown in the UI Manager, each screen has several channels that are categorized under different Outputs and Inputs. Some inputs and outputs have on and off switches while others have textboxes with either 0 or an actual value that is read according to when the program is ran. I am able to go in an change and add fault values then after awhile the system may crash. The program doesn't have to be running for a long period of time for it to crash. Also when we try to send the crash reports we receive errors which I have attached to this post also. It mostly crashes when the system definition is deployed but at times it does crash when it is standalone.

I'm working with sgray90.

It's crashing without modifications.

We have primarily been using it connected to a deployed system definition.

Have not been able to send crash reports.

Where are the dump files located that you want me to send?

Here's where they are on Win10:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\National Instruments\VeriStand.UIManager\ErrorReports\2016 (64-bit)
