If you cannot run setup, "unfriendly" is not the right word.
Tell us what you tried and what kind of error messages you get and we will probably be able to help you.
What is "most of NI software"? Again what are the problems you are encountering? Maybe something is wrong with your computer? What is your OS? Sometimes it even is a pebcak problem.
This is a help forum and we cannot help unless you give details. Just labeling things is not useful.

The NIVirtualBench101.exe file is a self-extracting archive. With the default options checked, pressing 'Unzip' will automatically run the embedded setup.exe, which begins the actual installation process. There should be no need to invoke setup.exe manually.
As altenbach noted, providing more information about your problem helps us to help you.
What error are you receving?
Which installer are you trying? (NI-VirtualBench Application, NI-VirtualBench Driver, or NI-VirtualBench Runtime)? From what URL are you downloading it?
Are you using the NI Downloader?
What OS are you trying to install on? Do you have a earlier version of NI-VirtualBench installed? Or any other NI software installed?
