National Instruments VERY SLOW DOWNLOAD SPEED followup

Hello together,

I made this thread as a follow up on the slow download speed thread where some others already posted an issue with this.

To gather more information if this is a regional, network or other issue please let me know if anyone of you encounters the same slow download speeds from the NI webpage or the NI Update service.

I now tried several different methods, including to start the download on my mobile with 4G (and enough data volume) and I always get only a few Kbit/s out of the web.

I'm located in Cologne, Germany.

Exactly same problem here, for a 460MB patch: 40% after 100minutes. Two windows reboots (pause and resume) performed to check any "my side" issue. No firewall or antivirus (typical excuses) active.

My connection speed has nothing to do...

Hello,

I've forwarded the problem to the NI IT.

Terrible perma-slow speeds here in Australia, and this is on a 100Mbps fibre link. C'mon NI, I can't spend days waiting for stuff to download to do work.

I am experiencing very similar problems downloading drivers from the NI website. Over the last week I have done several downloads. They are all very slow: around 50 - 100 kbytes/s. I often have to resume the downloads because they fail. Right now I'm downloading the NISCOPE 18.6 driver via this link: http://download.ni.com/support/softlib/high_speed_digitizers/niscope/18.6/NISCOPE1860.zip. I got the same low speed downloading other drivers during the last week. Downloaded from other websites is running at usual speed (much faster).

I am on the Technical University of Denmark campus network where we are basically linking into the Danish internet backbone. A speed test within Denmark maxes out my local 1 Gbps connection. I also did a speed test between here and the University of Texas, Austin (thinking this might be relevant since NI headquarters are based in Austin, TX. Not sure whether NI servers are based here as well). Here I get around 344 Mbps download and 54 Mbps upload. That makes it even more frustrating that NI downloads are so painfully slow at the moment 😉

So now, the following morning, I wanted to download the NI-DAQmx 18.5.0 drivers from here: http://download.ni.com/support/softlib/multifunction_daq/nidaqmx/18.5/NIDAQ1850f2.zip

The situation has changed significantly since yesterday. I'm now downloading at more than 1000 times the speed of yesterday. I almost didn't have time to make a screendump  Smiley Happy

May had something to do with net neutrality?

We haven't had any reply in this or the other topic, and we complied with mods. requirements to post information about downloading.
