I am working with our Marketing and R&D departments to find the right topics for April's Developer Education Day. I'd love to get everyone's input to these topics.
The goal for Dev Days is to bring presenters and topics that help raise the level of LabVIEW development in the area. That means we want to have intermediate and advanced topics that will appeal to existing LabVIEW customers, and help them improve the applications they develop using LabVIEW.
When we select sessions, we are trying to match the expertise of the R&D engineers with the needs of the area they are visiting. The first step is for us to identify the topics we would like to have in Seattle and Portland, then we try to find the right engineers to present those topics. Once we know who is available, we may modify the topic to fit their background and experience.
We are considering the following sessions. Each session would be 3 hours, on two tracks. Each attendee can attend one session in the morning and another session in the afternoon.
Time | Track 1 | Track 2 |
---|---|---|
8:30 am | Best Practices for Networking with LabVIEW | LabVIEW Design Patterns |
11:30 am | Lunch | |
12:30 pm | Keynote address | |
1:00 pm | Applying Software Engineering Principles to LabVIEW Development | Best Practices for Deploying LabVIEW Code |
3:30 pm | Free CLAD testing for all attendees |
Please share your thoughts about these sessions- are these attractive topics? What information would you like to see in these topics?

Steve -- I'd love to see a session on advanced error handling. The basics are easy but I'm sure there are cleverer ways to do things and I'd love to hear about them.
