The VMEC-1 and VMEC-2 are broad frequency USB instruments running on the Microsoft Windows platform. Desktop, hand held, and touch screen software come standard with the purchase of the instrument. This is an ideal instrument for replacing magnetic penetrant inspection because it provides a low cost entry point into eddy current testing and provides features and performance found on considerably more expensive systems. Additionally, by leveraging the power of Windows, the VMEC instrument has networking, documentation, and storage possibilities not found in other eddy current instruments. Currently, customers can purchase the instrument and software only, or bundled with a computer specific to their application as a turnkey system. Driver software will be released to allow integrators and researchers to use the instrument in a larger system for such applications as scanning and machine condition monitoring.
