DAQ-mx software_drive installation for NI USB 6251

Hello everybody!

-I´m trying to acquire signals by using a BNC 2110 connected to a NI USB-6251 board and a notebook with Windows 7. After installing the DAQ-mx software on my notebook and switching on the NI USB-6251 board, the computer does not recognize the NI USB-6251 board. The NI USB-6251 does not appear on MAX as well. I´ve tried to install and reinstall all the following DAQ-mx´ versions: 9.6; 9.5.5; 9.4; and 9.7! How can I solve this problem?

obs: I´ve check my usb-cable and there is no problem with it!

Any help would be highly appreciated!

thank you in advance,

best regards!

Hi,

All variants of M Series USB devices have LEDs labeled ACTIVE and READY. The ACTIVE LED indicates activityover the bus. The READY LED indicates whether or not the device is configured.

Refer to http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/BF4B308389E2C5648625718C004E61CB?OpenDocument for the status of the LED. You have a USB device therefor at last the Power LED should be lit. Is it?

Hi JohannesM,

-Thank you for your reply and all the information you sent me! I have already read it!

-I don´t see any Power LED on my device! I can just see both ACTIVE and READY LEDs on the front pannel. I don´t really think the problem is about power supply, as I tested the same setup (power suppy - BNC 2110 - NI USB 6251 - notebook with window 7 with Labview 2010) by changging just the notebook with windows XP and Labview 8.2.1. When I use the same setup with the notebook with windows XP and Labview 8.2.1, everything works perfectly. When I use my computer, wich has windows 7 and Labview 2010 installed, the board NI USB 6251 ist not recognized by the notebook and by MAX. Whether it could be a problem regarding power supply, it would also affect the setup: (power suppy - BNC 2110 - NI USB 6251 - notebook with windows XP with Labview 8.2.1), which did not happen! So, what could be the problem? It seems to me a problem regarding the DAQ-mx driver and the communication between my notebook (with window 7 and Labview 2010 installed) and the NI-USB 6251 board, isn´t?

-Is the NI-USB 6251 board compatible with Labview 2010 and Windows 7? All the DAQ-mx drivers which I have tested support Windows7 (based on NI website´s information)

best regards!

Hi,

that is a strange behaviour. I have that device on my desk using it with daqmx 9.7 under Win7, and it is recognized and works fine. That far it makes no difference, which LabVIEW Version you work with. We are just talking about MAX.

Please have a look if the NI device loader is installed and operational, by checking Controll panel -> Adminstration -> Services. You may have stopped this service by accident. Also check wheather the device appeares in the Windows Device Manager overview.

Hi JohannesM,

-Thank you for your fast reply and the information.

-It´s nice to know you also work with the same device and with Windows 7. So if it works for you, it should also runs with my notebook as well!

-I´ve already ckecked the  NI device loader. Its "status" on my notebook appears as "initiallzed". The field "Initialization" apears as "Automatic" on the same screen. I also checked whether the devide appears in the Windows Device Manager overview, and there was no singnal of it there! I carried out the both tasks you mentioned without turning on the device, as I do not have access to it now. Tomorrow or on next Monday (I don´t know when the device will be available to me) I will repeat both procedures by connecting the device on my notebook to see how it appears!

best regards!

Hi JohannesM,

-I have tested this morning the both procedures you mentioned previously, by connecting the device (NI-USB 6251, Mass Terminator) to my notebook, and turning it on. On the “Windows Device Manager”, the only option related to the device is called: “NI Ethernet Device Enumerator”. By clicking on it and accessing the driver´s properties I realize there are 4 installed driver´s files, which are called: niede.sys; nipbcfk.sys; nipxibaf.sys; nipxbrc.sys. I don´t know if it sounds ok! What would you say about it? The registered driver´s version in this Window´s section is identified as: 1.0.0.49152.

Any additional suggestion/help would be highly appreciated!

Best regards!

Hi,

I am facing similar problem. Please guide me if I have done any thing wrong in the installation process.

OS: win 7 64 bit

Labview: 8.5.1

Then I have installed the Device Driver Reference CDs(3nos) which contains MAX 4.4.1, DAQmx8.7.1 Traditional DAQ 7.4.4 and signalExpress 2.5.1 .

After that I have installed Control design and simulation module 8.5 and then finally elvis cd.

Now when I powered the benchtop and USB 6251, the LEDs of both the device are glowing and in the USB 6251, it is in the active mode. but when I open the MAX, in "device and interfaces", I am not able to find the ELVIS device. Though in "Manage" from my computer, under "data acquisition services", the ÜSB-6251" is showing when it is powered.

As a result when I am opening the NI ELVIS, it is not able to configure.

Please help me out.

Any kind of help in this regard is highly appricable.

Hi,

I also didn´t get any good results by using OS: win 7 64 bit with Labview: 8.5.1. Rather, when using XP windows with Labview: 8.5.1, things have worked ok.

best regards!
