Help running VIs for Quanser Rot Pendulum

Please help with instructions to run the NI ELVIS/Quanser Rotary Pendulum system. I connect and power up the hardware as indicated in the manual and then run the trainer VIs included in the LabVIEW CD but they never fully load because of missing file errors (some found in different directories). The software/hardware have been used for other projects in the past. I’ve tried updating all software – LabVIEW, DAQmx, NI ELVIS – I think the versions are compatible. I will try to post more details on errors and software versions when I return to lab. What is the basic procedure to setup and run the system? Maybe I’m doing something wrong? I am working with the old NI ELVIS (Traditional) device and DAQ card (PCI-MIO-16E-1) and LabVIEW 6.0, 7.0, and 8.0 installed with the necessary modules.

What files does it say it is missing? Can you post what version of LabVIEW DAQmx and Elvis you updated to? Have you seen the “Where to Start with NI Elvis” Document?

I also had many problems with the provided software... Here is what I installed a while ago on my machine, (Note that I use an NI-ELVIS 2 via USB):

-LabvIEW 8.5.1

-NI-ELVISmx 4.0

-Downloaded vi pendulum from here http://www.meqtronics.com/public/requests/QCI%5FTEMP/QNET/

-Add NI control library

Then after looking at the VIs and trying to make them work, I decided to rewrite almost everything...

We use this setup for demo that should run ~8hours per day.

After a few months of use we started to have my mechanical problems and we had to modify the arm.

Do you also get missing file errors? Have you taken a look at the Where to Start with NI ELVIS II manual?
