Please Help - myRIO Bourns Absolute Encoder using SSI protocol

Hi all,

So I bought a Bourns EMS22A30 absolute encoder for measuring the pitch angle of a turbine blade (controlling the pitch of the last 1/3 of the blade length to control the speed of the blade). I've had very little experience with LabVIEW and myRIO outside of a short 4 hour introduction course - about as green as you can get!

My issue is that it uses SSI communication protocol - which I have only just discovered is not used by the myRIO (it uses I2C and SPI). Is there any way that I can connect, program and use this with the myRIO? I'd really like to avoid wasting this money as to me this was a very expensive purchase!

Here is some information on SSI communication on FPGA, I'm not sure how this would work with myRIO though.
